WCPS & Operation Unite Goldsboro to hold information session for parents

The event will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the WCPS Professional Development & Family Engagement Center, located at 415 S. Virginia Street.

“We would encourage families to come out to learn more about the many available resources in our community that target student success,” states Caroline Brown, WCPS Parent Engagement Coordinator. “We appreciate Operation Unite Goldsboro’s efforts to partner with us in connecting families with local organizations which can provide them valuable educational supports and resources.”

The event will kick off with comments from Dr. Carol Artis, Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction and Federal Programs, and Mark Colebrook, Operation Unite Goldsboro founder. Ms. Brown will also present information about WCPS web-resources available to parents. Families will then be released to meet and speak with representatives from the following organizations:

• Wayne County Public Library
• Impact Teens Goldsboro
• Boys & Girls Club of Wayne County
• Girls Scouts
• Goldsboro Housing Authority
• Kinetic Minds After School Program
• M.O.R.E. Youth Movement, Inc.
• W.A. Foster Center
• Literacy Connections of Wayne County
• The Partnership for Children of Wayne County
• Wayne UNC Health Care

The WCPS Professional Development & Family Engagement Center is located at the former School Street School next to the School Street Early Learning Center. Families are encouraged to park in the Virginia Street parking lot.
